गोनू झा धान रोपलक।
On one occasion, Gonu Jha had sown paddy.
धान रोपलक न त कमला जी के कि कहलकय गोनू झा, जे हे कमला माइ जे अइ बेर त बाढ़ि आइब गेलए से धान एकोटा नइ बचलय।
After he sowed paddy, Gonu Jha told Kamla ji [the Kamla river], “O Mother Kamla, this time, as you know since flood came, not a single crop of paddy got saved.”
बाढ़ि ऐलै न से पूरा धान दलहा गेलए। एकेगो जे एकेगो गब बचि गेलए। त एकेटा गब बचलय, त कहलकय हे कमला माइ जे इ धान से हमरा पूरा अथी, चास, अथी, उपइज जैत त हम एक सौ एक पाठि चढ़ैब अहां के।
As the flood came, the entire paddy got washed away. One lot, just one lot got saved. So, since just a single lot got saved, Gonu Jha told Kamla ji, “O Mother Kamla, if this single lot results into my entire field getting covered with paddy, I will offer you the sacrifice of 101 goats.
आइब के बलिदान एक सौ एक पाठि के देब।
I will come and offer you the sacrifice of 101 goats.
त कहलकय ठीक है जे भरि जेतै।
Then Mother Kamla said, “Fine, your field will be full”.
खेती केलक कि ने त पूरा चास भरि गेलए, खेत से उ कबूला केलकए त, त पूरा खेत भरि गेलए । त कहलकय हमर खेत त आब बढ़ सुदंर भ गेल त हम खुद जाइ छी कमला माइ के एक सौ एक बलिदान द अबइ लै।
After he cultivated, the entire field became full of crop. Since he vowed, the entire field became full. Then he told himself, “Now since my field looks beautiful, I will myself visit Mother Kamla and offer 101 sacrifices”.
एक सौ एक फुनगा पकिरलकए, उ तितली नइ होइ है, उ रहे तितली और, से तितली पकड़ कर आ कमला माइ लंग गेल आ चढ़ा आयल कमला माइ के। जे हे कमला माइ जे हम अहां के कबूला एक सौ एक केने छली से लिया अहां अपन कबूला।
He caught 101 dragonfly. [You know that butterfly no, it was that butterfly]. So he caught and sacrificed them before Mother Kamla, and said, “O Mother Kamla, as I had vowed to sacrifice 101 numbers, so please accept my offering here”.
कहलकय, रे गोनू झा तू हमरा ठकलैं, जे पूरा खेती के चास कटबैं तइयो होतौ एकेटा बोझा। जो पूरा प्लाट काटि लेबैं तइयो एके बोझा पूरतौ।
She said, “Hey, Gonu Jha, you tricked me; go, you will ultimately have just one lot of threshed crop even if you thresh the entire field. Even if you thresh your entire plot, you will have just one lot.”
काटा लै गेल त भरि खेत के जूना बनेलक, बड़ि टा के जूना बनेलक। आ बनेलक कि ने त कहे है कि पूराबा हे गंगा माइ एकेटा बोझा। त जेते टा के खेत रहे तते टा जूना बनेलक त ओते टा पूरबो करते न त एकैगो बोझा पूरल बड़ि टा।
As he went to thresh the crop, he made a field-size straw (the straw is made of dried yellowish stalks to hold a bunch or lot of threshed crop), made a huge straw. Once he had it, he said, “O Mother Ganga, now fill it with just one lot”. So as he made a straw of the size of his field, it needed to be filled too; so even one lot had to be so big so as to fit in that straw.
कहलकय, जो कतबो ऐते टा बोझा बंधलैं, कतबो झाड़ि पीटबैं, त एकैगो एके पथिया होतौ।
Then Mother Kamla said, “Go, no matter how many times you formed this big lot, how many times you thresh it, it will yield only a basket”.
जो हमरा ठकलैं नै त तोरा एके पथिया अन्न होतौ।
“Go, you tricked me no, you will have just a basket of grain.”
फेर बड़ि टा के ढ़क बनबेलक डोम से। डोम जे बांस के ढ़क बनबे है, से बड़ि टा के ढ़क बनेलक। चार पांच क्विंटल के ढ़क बनबा लेलक।
Then he got made a huge granary, with the help of a Dom (a person from the Dom caste skilled in this art). The Dom, who make such granaries, then made him a huge granary. He got made a granary of 4-5 quintal capacity.
आइ में इतनी गो के पथिया पेन में राखि देलकय, अइ ढ़क के पेन में। आब कहलकय हे कमला माइ आब तू हमरा एके पथिया पूराबा।
Then he placed a small basket beneath it, beneath the granary. Then he said, “O Mother Kamla, now you fill only a basket”.
आब उ ढ़क भरते तखनते ने छोड़तै।
Now it will be done only after the granary gets completely filled no.
तब कमला जी कहे छथिन जे जो गोनू तू जीतलै हमहीं हारली।
Then Kamla ji said, “Hey, you go, go. You won, I only lost.”
