This archive of Maithil women’s tales is intended to preserve this art for generations to come – for members of the Maithil and broader South Asian community, for scholars and educators of oral traditions in South Asia and around the world, and for the general public.

This archive is in process. Browse by storyteller, date, location, or recording session to view individual stories.
Each story includes:
- Video recording of the story being told with English subtitles.
- Written transcription in Devanagari script.
- Written translation into English in Roman script.
Each story identifies the storyteller, the location of the storytelling session, and the date. As Maithil women’s tales rarely are given stable names, these have been omitted in most cases.
